The SHIP Counselor will be at the Senior Center on Tuesdays, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 from noon to 3p.m. To register for an appointment in January, please call Carolann at ext. 2554.
There are openings in the free crafts and ceramics classes. For information to enroll in classes, please call Marie Feeley at ext. 2559.
EXERCISE CLASSES are held on Monday and Wednesday from 11:15 to 11:45a.m. except where noted in the newsletter. It is not necessary to pre-register, but you must sign a release form before your first class. Remember that you need to be a member of the Center to participate in the class.
SENIOR CENTER MONTHLY BIRTHDAY PARTY will begin at noon on Wednesday, January 18. Everyone who is a registered member is welcome to attend. If your birthday is in January please let us know this and the correct date when you register so that we may honor you with surprises. Register now for lunch and the January birthday party by calling Marie at ext. 2556.
BINGO is held on Mondays at 1:00p.m. at the Senior Center, except where noted in the newsletter. Call Marie at ext. 2556 if you have any questions about the bingo game or if you would like to participate. Special thanks to Joe Rugarber for volunteering to call bingo each week.

On Tuesday, January 10 at 10:30a.m., students from Adelphia School's chorus will entertain us at the Senior Center with a PATRIOTIC SING-ALONG. Call ext. 2551 if you need transportation and ext. 2556 if you wish to order lunch.
Does the health status of my teeth really affect my heart? How do I fight gum disease? What's all the fuss about gingivitis, mouth ulcers and loose teeth? Which toothpaste is best for me? Is it too late to correct my teeth grinding? At 11a.m. on Thursday, January 12, Dr. James Rodriguez, DDS will present BRUSHING UP ON DENTAL CARE. He will discuss gum, oral and tooth care, problems with plaque and the positive value of at least rinsing after sugared snacks and heavy meals. Dr. Rodriguez will also review prevention and the necessity of dental care and checkups.
Veena Valleyhan, an attorney from OMLS, will be at the Center on Tuesday, January 17 at 11a.m. to speak about the FREE LEGAL SERVICES offered by her agency. These offerings include public assistance, consumer advocacy, wills, powers of attorney, medical directives, and housing assistance. Veena will be here on Wednesday, February 15 from noon to 3p.m. for individual appointments. You must register for an appointment. Registration begins following our presentation on January 17. The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey's monthly FREE BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC will be held on Monday, January 23 from 9:30 until 11:30a.m. Pre-registration is not necessary. We do request, however, that people who drive to the Center come in for their screenings from 9:30 until 10:15a.m. so that those who are transported by our staff may be screened when they arrive.
ARDENA SCHOOL'S BAND will perform at the Howell Senior Center on Thursday, January 25 at noon. Call ext. 2551 if you need transportation and ext. 2556 if you wish to order lunch.

Dr. Kevin Berg, MD will discuss these concerns as well as treatment options on Thursday, January 26 at 11a.m. at the Senior Center. His presentation is titled STRESS AND YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM WITH EMPHASIS ON HEART DISEASE AND PNEUMONIA.
Celebrate the Year of the Dragon our Chinese New Year party on Friday, January 27 beginning at 10:30a.m. A donation of 3 individually wrapped paper towels is being requested for a lunch of sweet and sour chicken, an egg roll, and vegetable fried rice.
