WHO IS SEPAC????? COME TO BACK 2 SCHOOL NIGHT . . .October 6
The Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) was formed over fifteen years ago for the parents of children with disabilities who attend the Howell Township Public Schools. The main focus of SEPAC is to involve parents in their children’s educational experience. SEPAC promotes a network and peer assistance for parents, while providing a forum to share and discuss matters of relative interest and concern regarding our children.
SEPAC meets at the Newbury School located at 179 Newbury Road, Howell, NJ 07731. Our back to SCHOOL NIGHT IS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6, and we have many exciting things planned this year which include our ever popular SEPAC LUCKY LADIES FUNDRAISER (18 & OVER) on November 18 & May 18; a WINTER DANCE & SOCIAL for our members on December 9; a guest speaker on SPECIAL NEEDS FINANCIAL PLANNING on JANUARY 12; a VALENTINE'S DANCE for our members on February 10; a FAMILY FUN NIGHT for our members on March 23; and an AUTISM/DISABILITIES AWARENESS NIGHT on April 26.
Some of what SEPAC has to offer . . . we hosts FREE WORKSHOPS on a variety of topics related to children with special needs SEPAC sponsors HOWELL MANIA (our version of the Special Olympics); support at your IEP meetings (if requested); representatives who are available to answer questions, provide resources & help parents navigate the special education system, and we work towards understanding, respect, support, and appropriate education of all children with special needs in our community.
SEPAC promotes and supports an innovative educational environment where children with disabilities have equal opportunities, a school, and community environment where all children are encouraged to reach their full potential and we promote communication programs within the community to encourage understanding, respect, acceptance, and the inclusion of children with disabilities.
SEPAC collaborates with the school community to continually improve the educational opportunities available within our schools in order to promote improved educational outcomes for children with disabilities. We will helps you stay updated on special education laws, learn the skills you need to become your child’s best advocate, develop a network of parents whose children may have the same or similar disabilities, provides socialization opportunities for your child, meet Howell’s administrators, find out what type of recreation programs are available, and locate resources, events, and seminars.
