BlueClaws Looking at Wet Return Home
Busy week ahead for Phillies affiliate
If the weather clears up sometime Monday the Lakewood BlueClaws will be able to kick off another round of games at FirstEnergy Park.
The South Atlantic League (SAL) affiliate of the Phillies is set to play a grueling nine games in the next seven days, including a pair of doubleheaders against the Delmarva Shore Birds and the Hagerstown Suns. The Claws will not only be battling their opponents but the weather as well as the National Weather Service is predicting the possibility of rain until at least Friday.
As with all BlueClaws games there is plenty to do off the field while watching the future Major Leaguers at work. Tonight is scheduled to be a Kids Eat Free game against the Birds, and the first 2000 fans over 18 years old also will receive a free travel mug.
Tuesday night is another Senior Day and from 5:15 to 6 p.m. fans have the chance to meet their favorite players and get their autographs before the 6:35 p.m. first pitch.
The BlueClaws are set to wrap up their three game set with Delmarva on Wednesday with an 11:05 a.m. game, and the first 2000 fans 17 and younger will receive jumbo baseball cards.
The Suns are set to come to town for a double-header on Thursday night with the first game starting at 6:05 p.m. The first 2000 fans to the first game will get a poster of Phillies ace Cole Hamels. It's also Thirsty Thursday, meaning $1 beer and soda in the Coors Light WRAT Trap.
If the forecasts are correct the rain should let up on Friday just in time for the start of Memorial Day Weekend and another classic fireworks display at the ballpark for the 7:05 p.m. game. Friday night also is Toms River Patch night at the park so come out and meet some of your Patch staff at their table on the concourse.
The action continues on Saturday with another double dip again starting at 6:05 p.m. In honor of the holiday weekend the team also will be hosting Red White and BlueClaws night.
This homestand also will feature a second fireworks display set to follow Sunday's 7:05 p.m. game in their finale against the Suns on another Kids Eat Free night.
After this home stand is done the BlueClaws will take to the road with a trip that will include stops in West Virginia and Kannapolis. They are not home again until June 5 for a quick three-game series against the Lexington Legends.
