BOE Debate Highlights Memorable Week
Big events in town this week
This week figures to be a historic one here in Howell Township as the Mayor and Council will host their first meeting in the new Municipal Complex. Add to that a debate for November's election and it will be a week to remember here in town.
The old Southard School will be the site of tonight's debate for the six candidates seeking three seats on the Howell Board of Education. Incumbents Timothy O'Brien and Patrick Dowling will be seeking to hold onto their seats while Jeanne DePompo, Charles Welsh, Nancy Donio and Amy Fankhauser will be competing for a spot on the board. The event is being moderated by the League of Women Voters and is scheduled to start at 7:30.
On Tuesday night the council will hold its first meeting at the new building as they continue the transition from Preventorium Road to Route 9. One of the items on the agenda is a public hearing on an ordinance to further explore energy aggregation.
Tuesday is also the deadline for residents to register to vote. That includes registering online and through the mail as long as the forms are postmarked by October 16.
Applications can also be found at Motor Vehicle Commission offices and at the Municipal Building as well as at the County Clerk's office.
