Governor Christie and Mayor Booker: Don't Worry, We've Got This

Just because they're the state's two most prominent politicians doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humor.

The office of Gov. Chris Christie yesterday released a lighthearted video co-starring Newark Mayor Cory Booker as a peripatetic go-to guy, riffing off his now national-scale image as a man of action following his rescue of a neighbor from a burning building several weeks ago.

As the Democratic mayor of the state's largest city is depicted doing everything from coming up with a spare guitar for Bruce Springsteen to catching a falling baby, a faux-frustrated Christie hisses "Booker!"

The video was produced for the New Jersey Press Association's Legislative Correspondents Club show.

It's called bi-partisanship and reaching across the aisle -- something this country desperately needs. Gone are the days when politicians of different parties could fight during the day but go out for a drink together after work.

I get what you're saying Mike, and would normally agree, but in Christie's case - well, I just really really despise that man. I find him -and his politics- absolutely repulsive. That's the reason for my _somewhat_ tongue-in-cheek comment above.

This is why people like both these guys. They aren't above making fun of themselves. They're real people who just happen to be politicians, and two guys who just happen to be in different parties. I found this video refreshing in a time when differing factions can't come together in or out of the halls of government.

If he were doing a good job here that would be one thing but he just wrote another check to the tax payers that he has no way of funding in his tax reduction he plans on giving the rich with no way to fund it. Middle class families of NJ Bend over again the governor has a new agenda he going to shove up your bums.

I feel bad for Cory booker such a bright your man and he is so lost on his priorities. By the way governor you do realize most New Jersians do pray you take the VP job your campaigning for in the video. I'm taking it Booker may be also since he allowed Christie to use his popularity to try an audition for the VP job to Romney. I see this as nothing more than an audition tape sensationalizing Christie as a guy who can work with Democrats, one problem Gov. it's BS like this that make nobody take Booker seriously when it comes to being a "Democrat." I'm sure if it were real it would have gone something like this, Christie takes phone from Booker says "I Got this," Romney replies don't worry Double Bubble, I'll hang up first," Click!

@Stay Calm & Pity - This really isn't the forum to dress you two haters down! It was a fun spoof, but you two momo's can't even see the satire. You two must be hell to live with if you don't see the humor for what it is here.
But since you want to provoke partisan political views, I guess you think Quitter McGreevey and Do Nothing's Corzine and Cody were better than Christie? HAHAHAHAHA! You two Liberal Progressives are either union workers, state employees, looking for entitlement handouts or ignorant. Keep drinking the Kool Aid.

Christie has taken on the tough problems that this state faces head on without pandering to the unions. His approval rating is through the roof at this point because he is actually doing his job and cutting spending unlike Obama.

If you two think Obama is so great, list a few of his accomplishments. I'd love to
read the list. I'll start you off.
1. HealthCare reform that the public overwhelmingly rejected, but was rammed down our throats by Nancy Pelosi & Co. It's about to be overturned by the supreme court.
2. A Nobel Peace Prize - Why did he win this again? Hmmm??
3. 9% unemployment
4. $3/gal gas
5. Fast & Furious scandal
6. ACORN
7. Rev. Wright (Another hater)
8. Hiring Green Energy czar Van Jones ( He left in disgrace)
9. must I continue…..

Pity - I never defended Bush - He was not a good president. We all know that. But most of your facts about the guy are wrong or exaggerated. I do expect that from a union working liberal, Mr. T Kool Aid drinkin' wanna be.
9/11 - Bush was praised for his handling of 9/11. American soil never got attacked again.
N.O. needs another Cat. 5 so we could all forget about the cost of rebuilding that slum.
You're wrong about fuel. When Bush left office gas was 1.80/gal.
Unemployment stayed between 4-6% for Bush's entire presidency albeit the last month (7%).
Bin Laden & other terrorists - No credit at all. Any sitting president would have gotten all of them. Go Seal Team 6.
Detroit - Let it go belly up. Never should have bailed them out in the first place.
Obama's Unemployment - HAHAHA- 2008 levels - You ARE drinking the Kool- Aid. He was over 9% for most of his term and as high as 10%. Never once below 8%.

I stand by what I said. The guy is in way over his head. He and the cast of characters he surrounds himself have no clue, no class, and his presidency is a compete and total FAILURE!

-Go from paying down our national debt to borrowing massive amounts of money
-Losing the Afghanistan War because he stupidly invaded Iraq at the same time.
-I did not realize Bush got Bin laden. Are you sure about that?
-Creating the financial mess we are not stuck in, and caused the current unemployment mess.
-But I do have to give credit to Dubya for kissing up to the religious right. Of course, what does all the misery Bush caused compared to his pleasing the bible thumpers?

I guess since the agenda of Oral Roberts, Jerry Fatwell, Twinkle Eyes Robertson, Jimmy and Tammy Faye, and Jimmy Swaggert were met, Dubya was a great president to you.

Back off Rack Draggin, or Jack Raggin, or whatever his name is just back OFF JACK...the important thing is that what he says, not what name he says it under. And what he says is, simply, expectorantional or expirational, or exclamational or something like that. I'll start with the best part which is how he takes a rare and uplifting story with real potential to bring people together if just a little bit and slams a wedge into its heart. B A U teeful. We are brothers! How would our kind make it in a world of common purpose and effort? But you are in a zone with the particulars - (no attacks on US soil after 9/11 - props for successfully diverting readers attention away from the attack OF 9/11 (maybe I should not point that out but I don't know how to express my admiration if I am not explicit), or how you say Pelosi rammed healthcare down our throats and skip the whole one year of bipartisan negotiation and all of the R amendments that went into its passage (why equivocate - make your point as strongly as possible, I say - and you use the same trick on the employment rate and gas price and debt stuff too!!! Awwww-some). But the coup de gras is where you combine the dirty (ha, like that matters) rhetorical tricks and insert the smart bomb - appeals to racism (ACORN and Wright)...You are a master. But seriously, Jack, don't be discouraged by the thinking crowd: They live in a reality-based world - a dreadful place where facts, reason, and compassion rule.

Masterful post as always. I enjoyed your work on the Ocean City liquor issue.

But I'd add this - there were TWO terror attacks on US Soil under Bush - the anthrax attacks that were swept under the rug. Maybe we got the guy who did it, maybe we didn't. But the administration kind of stopped caring a couple of years later. Like they did about catching Bin Laden.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said this - We'll have to pass the healthcare bill to know what's really in it. Really? Is that what you liberal progressive dregs of society want to hear?

Theporterfromcollingswood,

Bush was doing a good job knocking out those filthy Muslim extremists. And as a matter of fact so did Obama. Borat employed those drones that liberals hate so much and I thank him. When I first heard about the I imagined how great it must have been. A group of terrorists walking together and out of nowhere a lightning bolt vaporizes Mohammed. And then some kid gathering up what was left of Mohammed on the end of a stick...a smouldering towel. On this count I think Obama is doing God's work.

I think you get a high support in general for drones - haven't heard meaningful complaints about a technology that hurts our enemies without putting our soldiers in harms way.

Of course, now, they're going to start using them for domestic surveillance. So maybe that can be a something liberals and conservatives can come together against. It should be.

David Vaccaro

Theporterfromcollingwood,

Libs went crazy when Bush used them and he was far more prudent with them than the First Kenyan. I agree with Obama using them like raindrops on these useless people. It has to have a great and almost religious effect on anyone seeing them in operation. I agree they should not be used here for privacy reasons but when you have authoritarian regimes like Obama's you have to be leery. He'll have "Eric The Red" using them to intimidate their political enemies. Holder certainly won't use them against New Black Panther Party members who intimidate voters. Hey, that happened right in your own backyard...what do you think?

david vaccaro you want govt out of your life and you believe in getting things for yourself then its simple. a toad like you can simply call up the post office and tell them you no longer wish to get mail and while your taking your kids out of school for the last time make sure to stop by the township office and tell them you no longer wish to have your garbage picked up. and pray there isnt a fire or armed intruder breaking into your house because the police and fire dept will have taken white out to your address . also avoid the highways and major roads since the federal govt builds and maintains them. lastly when you and your family are living in one of those hoarder episodes from the a&e channel on top of a pile of garbage pray that if we are attacked the military will be there to defend you because last i heard the govt runs that detail as well. jack is as sharp as a cue ball but i bet you he has no problem leaving jack's offspring (no pun intended) on his health ins until age 26 on that dreaded obamacare. thats the hypocrisy of republicans they bash things like the stimulus then go home with the hat in hand for that stimuls check for their state

I didn't say I want government out of my life. I was just suggesting you adopt some limits. No one can disagree that government has a role, it's just that people like you are all about having others deliver things that you would be better off delivering to yourself. You sound like a big time loser. Why not just admit that you work for the government. Or at least tell everyone why government is so important to you. This seems far to personal to you that you're just some civic-minded do-gooder....there's something in your arguments for you. You sound like that nut up in Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren. Just checking in to see if the parasitical leeches of society have arisen yet? No surprise.

BTW -
I'm a Petty Fool - Don't miss the new Fantasy Time with Bill Maher tonight. It's required course work for you liberal progressives so you can spew the backward agenda of The Evil Obama Empire to the far reaches of the land.

Pitiful & Foolish - I can't even bare the thought of what living in your house would be like. You sound like a control freak. I feel for your poor spouse, if she hasn't left you yet. I'll lay odds that your dog even hates you. Pees on the carpet just to show you how much, too.
Now that you're retired, I'll bet you rearrange the silverware drawer in the kitchen, but wonder why you can't find the steak knives. Hint - they hid them from you, knowing you could erupt at any time with the threat of physical violence.

Holler, son!

Wow, just a quick read of the comments here...can't believe how many different people you insulted. Questioning others IQ's seems to be your M.O.
Maybe you didn't see the study that links conservative views to lower IQ and racism?
You can google it, but just in case you don't know how to use "the google" (thanks W), I've but a link below. Can't wait to see your head explode when Hussein is re-elected over magic underpants this fall. Must kill you to live in such a BLUE state.
I think you need to add the word "off", to your first name, to give others a better discription of what you're all about.

JR - I'll call a spade a spade. That's all. Read your little study. You've converted me. Really! Come on. Is this study if that's what you are calling it your claim to fame here? I'll continue to deal with one idiot at a time here, including you.

you are correct jr . wagon here has a name that can be both a noun and a verb that describes him to a tee . just add the off

and by the way jack here spends all day from morning to late night on the patch. nothing worse than a hypocrite who drones on about people getting welfare checks when the timeline clearly shows he is merely some guy in his stained boxer shorts who hasnt shaved in a week waiting for the check to appear in his mailbox. sad .

Hell on - Like I posted earlier - Why do you want my real name? What difference does it make in a forum like this? If you want my name so bad it's only because you are planning to do some form of deviant behavior. But I'm the rabid nut. Dream on fatty.

" i,m the nut" i couldnt have said it better myself. stick a sock in it and sign up for some anger management classes before we start reading stories of your wife and kids being beaten by you in the south brunswick patch. and jack i could very easily do it myself just name the time and place. but a coward like you would rather beat up an old man or young girl.

Thanks, guys. Another article we have to shut down because of the inane name-calling. Stop treating this place like a bathroom stall.
