Construction Equipment Fire in Howell Contained, Say Police

Howell P.D. say equipment fire quickly extinguished

 

An equipment fire in the township that had broken out this afternoon was quickly contained, authorities said.

Emergency communications indicated that a fire on Howell Court had broken out just after 2:30 p.m. Specifically, at the center of the fire was construction machinery and equipment.

Howell Police said that the fire was extinguished quickly, but that the cause of the blaze was currently under investigation.

Fire authorities at the scene did request assistance from the fire department in nearby Herbertsville.

I live 2 blocks away from where this happened. Felt the explosion.

My house is right in front of the backhoe that caught fire. I am extremely grateful the two dumpsters and the trailer with pool chemicals didn't ignite. Would have been catastrophic. Township fire and the hazmat crews did an incredible job of containing the fire.
