Heavy Snow Brings More Outages Back to Howell

Residents urged to report any outages

At one point on Wednesday night JCP&L was reporting just a little over 1000 residents without power following Hurricane Sandy. After the first big snowstorm of the year that number had increased to more than 10 thousand by Thursday morning.

Councilman Robert Nicastro said the township was aware of the power problems and was working to address the new set of issues brought about by the storm. "The snow amounts were much more than expected and reported," Nicastro said. "This has put extra stress on trees and power lines causing them to fall."

The councilman said that those people who had lost power with Hurricane Sandy and the new storm should call the utility to report their outages. "Please do not assume JCP&L knows and do not think that your neighbor having reported it is good enough," he said.

Anyone with a power outage is encouraged to call 1-888-544-4877 or 1-800-662-3115.

I think somebody should advise JCPL that this level of power outage in Howell is totally unacceptable. Looks like every time there is a slight weather dislocation Howell residents suffer disproportionately.

This is unacceptable. Once again, we are left in the dark and cold. How is possible they are not putting controls In place to protect us.

We lost power last night but we are back on line as of a couple hours ago.

That generator was the best $300 I ever spent.

John Hayes- where about in Howell do you live that you got power back already? I live off of Aldrich Rd and if somebody walks down the street and farts we lose power. At least a dozen times in the 4 years I have lived there. Whatever the problem they need to fix it and stop just putting band aids on it.

Power went out 3 times. Now power been back for awhile and cable went out yesterday afternoon. You can't get thru to cable vision either. Total joke. Finally this morning, kept cell phone on hold with them for 40 minutes before a live person picked up. Told me outage in area and don't know why or when it will be restored. For anyone who doesn't know yet, you can go online to cable vision and file a credit application for all the days you were without your service. Make sure you do we pay too much for it!!!!!!!
