Two Howell men were recently arrested on a number of charges according to Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department.
Dennis Griggs, 23, of North American Drive was charged with theft, theft by deception, shoplifting and on a warrant for failing to appear in municipal court. Charles Bueti, 24, of Lemon Road was also arrested on a shoplifting charge.
Dodd said Griggs was wanted on several warrants when he was located at the Wawa on Route 9 North by Cpl. Fred Bauer and Ptl. James Alexander. When approached by police Griggs was found to be in possession of candy and drinks he had allegedly shoplifted from the store. Griggs and Bueti are friends and Dodd said Bueti was also charged with shoplifting from Wawa.
According to Dodd earlier in the day Ptl. Ryan Richards was conducting an investigation of the theft of jewelry from a house in the township. The Jewelry, identified as two wedding rings, was located at "We Buy Gold and Silver" on Route 9. Griggs had reportedly sold them for cash and had claimed to be the legal owner.
As a result of the investigation Richards signed two warrants against Griggs for theft of the rings and theft by deception.
Dodd said Bueti was released on a summons while Griggs was taken to the Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $5300 bail with no 10 percent option.
