UPDATE: Three-Car Accident in Colts Neck Sends Marlboro Man To Hospital
One patient was transported to Jersey Shore Medical by ambulance.
An early morning accident involving three cars on Rt. 34 in Colts Neck closed both lanes for at least two hours on Monday.
Colts Neck Police Sgt. Kevin Walsh said Richard Santora, 21 of Marlboro was extricated from the car by police and fire, with injuries to lower extremities. The patient was taken by ambulance to Jersey Shore medical.
Walsh said a van driven by Dilipkuma Patel, 42, of Edison was attempting to make a left from Rt. 34 Southbound onto Willow Brook Road when he was struck by Santora.
The impact caused the van to spin into the road, where it was struck again by a northbound car driven by Howell resident Kenneth McGrory, 68.
Colts Neck Police are continuing their investigation into the accident.

Our best wishes go out to the families of those injured this accident. Clearly our busy roads pose a hazard for residents and drivers alike. Our staffers who travel Route 34 regularly comment about reckless drivers and people texting while driving.
