Pedestrian Safety Focus Of Howell Police Program

Zero tolerance for moving violations that could harm pedestrians, police say.

The Howell Township Police are beginning a program to increase pedestrian safety in town, authorities said.

The Department will begin conducting “zero tolerance” enforcement, specifically targeting moving violations that are hazardous to pedestrian travel, such as speeding, careless driving, and traffic signal violations, police said.

Enforcement locations will be random throughout the township and decoy operations will also be used on various dates and times. Funding for the program is provided by the New Jersey Highway Traffic Safety Grant, police said.
