It has been a busy few months for the students of the Ramtown School. With the holiday season upon us a considerable amount of effort was put into collecting items that will be shipped to the troops overseas.
In an email to the community that helped collect the items, the girls said their efforts were very successful. "We had a tremendous response in our school and in just a few short weeks, we were able to completely fill three shopping carts."
Even more items were added to the collection thanks to the efforts of Brownie Troop 187. The girls were able to add another shopping cart worth of materials to be sent overseas. "To complete our packages and add an extra personal touch, the Ramtown Second graders made cards that were included in the care packages," the letter said.
In addition to the students and the Brownies, credit was also given to Ramtown teacher Cindy Imperiale who connected the school with the Veterans of the Vietnam War and the Veterans Coalition. They also credited school custodian Pete Brown with helping them to take all the items they collected and sorting and packing them for the trip.
Students across the district have engaged in similar projects including at the Taunton School.
