More than 10,000 were without power as 50-mph wind gusts hit Central New Jersey and the Jersey Shore Friday morning.
As of 8:36 a.m., some 2,000 households were without power in Howell, according to the JCP&L power outage. In Freehold Township, 1,729 lost electricity, as did 441 in Freehold Borough. Middletown had some 1,466 without power and over 500 customers in Marlboro and 436 in Colts Neck were in the dark.

If you live on Robertsvlle you own a generator.After July's super cell whipped through our homes the hum has become the new normal.What really get's on my nerves is lost income.Three days of vacation used due to power loss,then Sandy(though I did get partial unemployment)still lost wages.Then Friday,I had to leave two teenagers 14 and 16 at home with no power and a generator once again humming.Still aggravated and even more aggravated when I pay my bill to JCP & L.Oh and three hours late for work.

Ugh after all that happened can't JCP&L get it right??!! I would love to be able to afford a generator but I cannot..They have to get it together!

After living in another town for 25 years and only losing power ever for four days I was shocked when I moved to Middletown. In our first five years here we lost power at least once a month. Finally we got JCP&L to do something. They replaced a "can looking device on our pole" and other than the storms we haven't lost power since. I believe this is truly a problem with outdated equipment. We've paid a lot of money for a lot of years and I doubt any of it when to upgrading equipment. Where is the Board of Public Utilities? Shouldn't they be regulating that a percentage of the equipment is upgraded every year?
