Township Launches New Website
Interactive, mobile features among highlights
The new website, which includes more pictures of places around town, is part of an effort to improve communications with residents Township Manager Helene Schlegel said. Not only is the site visually different, it also has more features that are aimed at helping residents on a daily basis.
"We are encouraging the personalization and residents' ability to customize their dashboard and find information easily and continue to be a leader in municipal transparency," she said.
Schlegel said she hopes residents will take advantage of the many interactive features. By registering with the site for no charge users can create a dashboard which will provide the information important to them in a quicker manner. Items that can be included on the dashboard are calendars, news items and emergency alerts that will be sent out when needed.
The newly designed website also features a mobile version for smart phone users where they can find much of the same information as the desktop site.
Councilman Robert Nicastro said he and the other council members are also excited about the new site. "This has been something the administration has been working on for a while," he said.
The last version of the website was recognized for its successes and Nicastro said this new layout will be a continuation of that. "Our new website will offer even more information not only within the government, but the entire town including our local businesses and local organizations," he said.
Nicastro said he was pleased to see all the interactive features now being offered to residents. "This is a more user friendly website and reflects our commitment to the citizens of improving timely and accurate information for everyone."
The new layout for the website comes at a time when the township is also getting more into social media including a Facebook page and a Twitter account. Other township organizations including the police department has a Facebook account while the board of education utilizes a Twitter feed.
