Veterans Honored at Memorial Day Celebrations
Howell and Farmingdale come together for another memorable day
It was an emotional day at Town Hall on Monday as the annual Memorial Day celebration was held on a hot day in May.
With representatives from the local VFW post and the VFW Auxiliary the men and women who served their country were remembered for their work. The short ceremony included a few words from Mayor Robert Walsh and a poem recited by Councilman Juan Malave.
From Howell it was on to Farmingdale for another quick ceremony at Lutz Park. The small town's normally quiet Main Street was briefly rocked as a pair of F-14's flew overhead to honor the day. Residents seeing the planes coming got the best view possible of the fighter jets even if it meant walking in the street to try and snap a quick picture.
The day concluded with the annual Farmingdale Memorial Day parade bringing together residents of all ages from both towns as well as local dignitaries and veterans of all ages.
