What Should Go in New Howell Center Addition?

New building in shopping center creates possibilities for consumers

The Howell Center just north of the 195 overpass has undergone a facelift in recent months with the exteriors of all the current tenants getting a newer, cleaner and more modern look.

One interesting part of the renovations has been the construction of a new building that could bring a new business to town. In a shopping center that already includes two restaurants, retail stores and other companies what would you like to see put in this new building?

Tell us your opinion on what is missing from the shopping center and even in that part of town in general in the comments section.

Why would they build a new building without a plan for something to go in there? What we could use is a BJ's or Costco in town but this building is too small for that.
BTW "The Howell Center just about the 195 overpass " - you might want to correct that.

I agree with Shammy a Costco or BJs would be great down this end of Howell...and please, no more fast food places. Enough... we have BK. McDs. KFC. Sonic no more.!!!!

How about a food bank or day labor office where legal residents could go for work, pay taxes and strengthen our community. Just saying there are enough burger joints here in Howell and to many Tax breaks for those. Lots of people are out of work and small businesses look for day labors instead of full time employees. What if they did not have to drive to lakewood or freehold and hire illegals, but found local residents willing to work but not willing to hangout on a corner trying to compete

We use to do that in our own homes.Invite neighbors over for coffee and a chat or dinner and a movie or a BBQ and a swim,why do you need to drive to a shopping plaza to visit with your neighbors who live in your neighborhood?

Howell residents need more traffic like we need higher taxes ,just saying..................I honestly do not understand building more shopping centers when a lot of them already built have empty stores.

@webby,
Howell's portion of Rte.9, as of today, has 300 EMPTY Storefronts. This new 'Addition' makes no sense, whatsoever. Somebody had a lot of money to dispose of, recklessly, for some reason or another...of which we will never know.

i dont think we need to keep building more buildings where there are plenty of them empty and becoming abandoned and after a while we have to tear them down!! lets first use all the abandoned buildings then if we need to build more then we will have too!! ..a small movie theater, a toy store for children, clothing store for every one, NO MORE FAST FOOD we have enough n its not like they r even busy ..like arbys!! no one is ever there!!
