With Six Weeks to Go Election Day Getting Closer
Plenty of events to be held before election day
Six weeks from today people all over the country will head to the polls to elect positions ranging from President of the United States to local councils and boards of education.
Here in Howell that includes the Mayor's seat as well as a council seat and three spots on the school board. The Howell Chamber of Commerce is holding events for the mayor's race and the board of education to help residents have a better idea of who they will vote for in November.
In the race for mayor Independent candidate Elaine Taylor and Democratic Challenger William Field have already spoken to the chamber. Deputy Mayor William Gotto will have his chance on Oct. 10 to make his case for the elections as the final candidate in the series.
The Chamber had originally scheduled a debate for the Howell Board of Education had been scheduled for Sept. 20 but was postponed due to scheduling conflicts with the district. It has been rescheduled for Oct. 15 at the old Southard School which is currently the home of the Howell PAL.
If you are not registered to vote there is still plenty of time to get your name on the rolls. The deadline to register for the Nov. 6 election is Oct. 16 for new voters, people who have moved or changed their name.
To register by mail you can fill out the attached application which can also be found on the county's website. Voter registration forms can also be found at Howell Town Hall or by going to the county clerk's office at 33 Mechanic St. in Freehold.
