Reflective Vests Can Help Save Lives

Want to help save some lives?  how about helping me raise some awareness of bicyle riders that are hit by cars because they cant be seen.  I work in a billing office for a local hospital and i cant tell you how many cases come into the the emergency room for this reason.

The poorer the person the more likely he or she is on a bike going to and from their job.  How may times have you yourself come close to hitting one of these riders simply because you couldnt see them. Its winter and it gets dark early, they wear dark colored clothers and before you know it.

I think a simple solution would be to have all riders wear a cheap reflective vest.  How to hand them out will be a task as well as trying to find supporters to invest monatarily to cover the cost.

Give me your thoughts and maybe together we can save a life.

We live in Spring Lake Heights, and can't tell you how many times we've seen bike riders (wearing dark clothing) on Hwy. 71 and Hwy. 35 late at night. I always point them out to my children so they will be more cautious on their bikes, and alert drivers some day. My 10 year old daughter is a Girl Scout and would like to raise awareness and provide reflective vests. She wants to do this as part of a community service project by contacting local restaurant owners (who employ a lot of these bicycle riders), and possibly asking for their assistance. We'd love to chat with you! Lori McBride, Leader, Troop 1104 (and Emma).

i think that is just great. i am trying to reach our local chamber of commerce to do the same thing. the vest are rather cheap if you buy them in lots. 100 would cost 3.00 a piece. small price to save a life. i dont mind footing the cost for them, its just getting them to the right people. let me know what you think. thanks again...grace
