When is howell day 2014?
LADY J July 19, 2014 at 09:29 PM
When I moved here almost 40 years ago, Howell was just beginning to grow. As you drove into itRead Morethere was a large billboard on Rt. 9 South that said "Howell is Becoming..". I loved the "small town" feel moving here from NYC; coming home on a riggity old bus with no bathrooms back then, from my job in Manhattan, it felt like a small vacation each weekend into this lovely suburb. Of course, like all local towns, we grew way out of proportion, but, that is life. So I now know what Howell BECAME!! I agree with you; all we get is one day a year--Howell Day. Years ago there used to at least be concerts and entertainment (dances, comedians, etc.) at Echo Lake Park. There were also some classes there if crafts, exercise, etc. was your goal. That stopped--nothing has replaced it. So, if you want to hold your breath and wait for this town to become like the others you mention, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed (and, sadly, dead)!

Myth: The Hobby Lobby decision is a narrow ruling that only affects a couple of types of birthRead Morecont rol. Fact : The Supreme Court let stand several rulings allowing for-profit companies to deny coverage of ANY type of contraception - not just the specific types that Hobby Lobby opposed. FREEDOM OF RELIGION AND FREEDOM FROM RELIGION Watch Video http://vimeo.com/99036119 Viagra, Penis Pumps and Vasectomies are all covered by insurance and are not under attack. The double standards are glaring.
tom July 11, 2014 at 04:32 PM
Once again, Viagra and penis pumps do not abort a fetus, A vasectomy prevents impregnation. WhatRead Morepar t about NOT STOPPING THEM FROM GETTING ANY FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL do you NOT understand... All women are free to choose the birth control method they wish. Just, if they have THAT particular insurance they will have to pay for CERTAIN birth control on their own. I do not see any policy that covers condoms. Does that make all insurance anti birth control? Isn't that discriminatory, not to offer any birth control for men except for a vasectomy????? They only cover ONE for men..... Shenanigans, I call Shenanigans!!! Geeze, you sound less intelligent every time you post something.

If I am not mistaken, didn't "Papa John's" Pizza chain also have a lawsuit like this aRead Morefew years ago which he won???

Please educate yourself about what is happening to Planned Parenthood--most of it's funding hasRead Morebeen eliminated due to politics and people's feelings regarding abortion. The government won't allow anymorel the "free" things P.P. used to be able to help women with. Those of us who marched on Washington and spent our own money to get the right to freedom of choice seem to have wasted our time/money. We are going back to the 1950's in thought, word and definitely, deed! How sad for the young people of today...

Planned Parenthood is in the business of destroying lives, plain and simple. No taxpayer dollarsRead Moresh ould ever be used to provide contraception of any kind, including and especially abortafacients. The Hobby Lobby ruling said that they are exempt from paying for FOUR of the TWENTY contraceptions offered based on the fact that they destroy life. If you can't find a contraception to use out of the 16 remaining, that's your problem! Also, did you know that, while most insurances offered by employers DID NOT COVER CONTRACEPTION UNTIL THE A.C.A., Hobby Lobby DID! HOBBY LOBBY was one of the few companies in the country that offered contraception as part of what was covered in their insurance plans. My own UNION based insurance did not cover contraception, unless used for a medical reason outside of birth control. Give me a break, people. You always want something for nothing. It's not the employers responsiblity to cover your insurance costs. Never was and never should be. That was simply a BENEFIT offered by employers to attract great workers and that's exactly the way it should still be.

Excellent points Lady J and HT2. As I have stated all along, not paying for an employeesRead Morecontracepti ve is not denying them the right to use said contraceptive. The attitude of "someone should pay for it, just not me" is the problem. Up until around 1990 the pill wasn't covered by my health insurance at all. So you know what??? We paid for it on our own. Just wait until employers get tired of having their employees try to force them to cover things like this and they say "screw it" go get insurance through the ACA. So you can have your abortion pills, but then you will be paying out the arse for insurance...All because a group stamped their feet and cried I want it!!!!!!!!! Remember, health insurance provided by the employer is a benefit...It is not required to be provided......they can always save themselves a bunch of money by tossing the employees into theACA...

More crony capitalism that will force people to buy something whether they want or not. If fireRead Morespri nklers were cost effective, home insurance companies would gladly pay for it. Instead, the Assembly rewards yet another politically connected group to dictate what people must purchase. What's to lose? It's not their money!

Thank you, Ms. Blaess for informing citizens. Most of us are too often, blissfully ignorant of theRead Mores henanigans regularly taking place under our noses. Uninformed voters allow the greedy, corrupt politicians to devastate our communities and deprive residents of affordable municipalities. . I refuse to vote for any candidates for any office, that I don't know. The problem is that this information is usually not easily accessible.
LADY J July 19, 2014 at 09:46 PM
I agree with Ms. Blaess and Ms. Dyjak. How do "they" get away with this pay increase when Read Moretaxes are so high? Is the money really being used for our schools and students, or, to provide pay raises (and, not to our devoted & hard working teachers who already lay out of their own pockets for school supplies)? I wonder how "they" sleep at nite??
