After More Than Two Decades Dentist's Practice Grows

Tribula & McComber share passion for dentistry with patients

Tucked away into the quiet Candlewood Commons is the dental office of Tribula & McComber Dental Associates. Since 1989 patients have been coming to see Dr. David Tribula and more recently his partner Dr. Nathalie McComber for their wide range of services. Working together the pair have strived to make going to the dentist comfortable for their patients. Tribula said he had worked in Wall before finding his first location in the Route 9 complex. "Howell has been very good to me," he said. "It has a great patient base and lovely people." Having worked in the town for so long he said he is now seeing not only his original patients but also their children and in some cases grandchildren. "I tell everyone I have 2000 best friends," he said.  …

Owners Look to Fresh 'Chapter' at Local Establishment

Also owns Ivy League

When he agreed to buy The Chapter House last year Tom Jaspan knew owning two restaurants in town would present its own set of challenges. He had no way of knowing that one of those challenges would be Hurricane Sandy which closed the Route 9 north restaurant for a few days and his original Route 9 south Ivy League for more than a week.  After cleaning up from the powerful storm Jaspan said his time has been spent fixing up the restaurant. He said he hopes to make it a place to enjoy for customers who have frequented there for more than two decades as well as attracting new customers. The two restaurants were originally opened by longtime business owner and former Chamber of Commerce President Cory Wingerter. Before buying The Chapter House…

I used to frequent the Ivy League regularly, but stopped going about 2 years ago. I felt that the food went downhill and was only fair and hat the service was poor at best.   more ›

Wegmans Freezes Prices on Summer Items

The seasonal price freeze at Wegmans lasts until Aug. 24.

Wegmans has once again announced a list of more than 65 products with prices frozen through Aug. 24. Even if costs go up for these products, Wegmans will not increase the retail price during this period. When you include all of the flavors, varieties, number of items (SKUs), that totals over 300 products. “Based on every measure we have considered, it is clear that the simplicity and relevance of a seasonal list where prices are locked in for several months works for our customers,” Wegmans President Colleen Wegman said. “And, it is not just a way to budget and save money; it’s also a tool for planning a healthy meal.”  As with previous lists, selections in meat, seafood, produce, grocery, dairy, bakery, frozen foods, and deli are included…

Adam- Completely understand how this information is relevant, but would love to see more info on local Howell business. I believe the last article on a business in the Howell Patch was about Qdoba in Freehold. Maybe someone can write an article about the reasons why companies are selecting neighboring towns over ours to open a business. How about an article on what we are doing to promote and …   more ›

Council, Chamber Tout New Era of Cooperation

Business community looks to work with governing body for growth

At the last meeting of the Howell Township Council there was a sense of cooperation when members of the Howell Chamber of Commerce addressed the members on the dais.  Jim Godfrey, who serves as 1st Vice President of the chamber thanked the council for working to help local businesses in the township. Godfrey said he has seen the two groups work well together in recent years and was hopeful that trend would continue. "I think we all realize the burden of the residential taxpayer cannot continue to be sustained without a strong, smart business community," he said.  Identifying what he saw as a "shift change," in the attitude of the administration, Godfrey said he has been glad to see the council working to help the business community. That …

Thanks for the anonminity suggestion George, but everyone knows that unless you are in the councils pocket you don't use your name. Some of us do have to live here and don't want things made harder for us because we speak up. But here's a suggestion for you. How many businesses are there in Howell? And how many of those businesses are a part of the Howell Chamber (please take out all political …   more ›

Our House's History Carries Tradition Into 21st Century

Local restaurant brings quality food to unique location

When Marriner's Tavern opened in 1747 the Revolutionary War was still just under 30 years away and Howell was not even a blip on the map. Fast forward more than 260 years and the tavern is now known as the Our House Restaurant and Banquet Facility and continues to provide a strong link to the township's history. The name has changed but owner Robbie Mowla said the overall feeling is the same which has kept customers coming back all these years. "It's a historical building and it has a good reputation" he said. Patrons of the restaurant learn about its history as soon as they get their menu filled with American cuisine. Since it opened the restaurant has been a place where local governments have met and served as the base of a group of …
