Business and Community Expo Set for Tuesday Night

A look at events happening in Howell on Tuesday November 12, 2013.

It will be a very busy night in Howell on Tuesday with an event sponsored by the Howell Chamber of Commerce and the PAL leading up to a meeting of the Howell Township Council.

The old Southard School will be the site of the first Community and Business Expo starting at 5 p.m. The event will include not only close to 40 vendors selling items ahead of the holiday season but also demonstrations on topics like how to protect your home and business from intruders.

When the council meets there are several items on the agenda including making part of Route 33 in the vicinity of East San marco Boulevard a No Passing Zone. There is also an ordinance to buy a Caterpillar Emergency Generator for $312,468 through the National Joint Powers Alliance.

There is also a proposal to change the township’s amended Affordable Housing Trust Fund Spending Plan. Out of a total of $926,00 the township will dedicate $150,000 to the Akabe Village Project that would allow 32 one and two bedroom units in 16 housing units. They would be used for people with physical disabilities, developmental disabilities and multiple sclerosis. $776,000 will be used for a rehabilitation program for an estimated 11 units.

Even as late as Monday night the forecast for Tuesday was not completely clear about whether our area will see rain, snow or both. There is likely to be a mix of both mostly before 9 a.m. before shifting to a mostly sunny day with a high near 43 degrees. Less than half an inch of total precipitation is expected to fall. Tonight looks to be mostly clear with a low near 25 according to the most recent forecast.
