Busy Thursday Schedule at Howell Library

A look at events happening in Howell on Thursday January 16, 2014.

The Howell Public Library will be the place to be for residents of all ages on Thursday.

Starting at 10:30 on Thursday morning the Senior Book Club will meet for its annual January gathering. This month’s book is House Rules by Jodi Picoult. For those interested the book can be picked up at the library. For more information call 732-938-2300.

When the senior club is done the Thursday afternoon movie will start around 1 p.m. This week’s showing is Enough Said, the 2013 film which was the last movie starring New Jersey native James Gandolfini alongside Julia Louis- Dreyfus.

The National Weather Service is calling for a mostly sunny day today with a high near 41 degrees and winds blowing near 8 MPH. When the sun goes down the temperature is expected to drop to a low of around 28 degrees. While Friday is supposed to be mostly sunny there is a chance of rain and snow showers from Friday night into Saturday though there is not expected to be a considerable amount of accumulation.

On this date in 1547 Ivan the Terrible was crowned Czar of Russia. The United States went dry on this date in 1920 when the 18th amendment marked the start of prohibition. Famous birthdays today include Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, auto racer A.J. Foyt and talk show host Laura Schlessinger.
