Planning Board and Council Highlight Busy Meeting Schedule

A look at events happening around Howell this week.

There are scheduled to be two big meetings at the new Municipal Building this week, one which could move the township closer to a new manager and one that could see a new business coming to town.

The Township Council is scheduled to hold a special meeting Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. On the agenda is a discussion on finding a replacement for longtime Township Manager Helene Schlegel. The council held a meeting this past Thursday to start the process which is expected to continue this week. Since Schlegel’s resignation Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey Fillatreault has served as the Interim Manager.

On Thursday night the Howell Planning Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. with one of their biggest applicants in recent months. First Financial Federal Credit Union is applying to build a one story building with drive thru lanes on the Route 9 corridor and is also looking to build two more two story buildings near where Route 9 and Wyckoff Mills Road meet.
