Community Cleanup Set For This Weekend

Local groups encouraged to take part

This weekend local volunteers are encouraged to come out and help clean the town as part of "Operation Clean Sweep."

In an email from the Mayor and Council the goal of the day is to "help keep our neighborhoods 'clean and green.'" Anyone can take part but the email is encouraging groups like scouts, sports teams, church groups and local businesses to take part.

Operation Clean Sweep will be held on Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. Volunteers will meet at the DPW building on Old Tavern Road next to the Howell Police Department. Those taking part will be given gloves, bags and safety vests. They will also be given their assigned areas at that meeting.

The event is scheduled to run until around noon when volunteers will return to the starting point for awards and a provided lunch.

Anyone interested in taking part should call Laurie Dunwoody at the DPW at 732-938-4500 ext. 2452. You can also email her at ldunwoody@twp.howell.nj.us.
