JOIN JUMPSTART’S READ FOR THE RECORD at Gymboree Play & Music of Howell

6th Annual Jumpstart’s Read for the Record – October 6
Engaging Americans to help make early education a national priority

Gymboree Play & Music of Ocean & Howell celebrates Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a national campaign designed to break the world record for the largest shared reading experience to support early education. Wear your comfy clothes or pajamas and gather round as we read Llama Llama Red Pajama at Gymboree Play & Music. You do not need to be a member to join us for this event. For our current schedule, please go to www.gymboreeclasses.com.

Current research overwhelmingly supports the importance of facilitating early and emerging literacy skills in preschool-age children as a critical foundation for literacy development. Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is a positive way to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood literacy skills. Gymboree Play & Music encourages readers of all ages to visit www.readfortherecord.org and register to read the campaign’s official book, Llama Llama Red Pajama, on October 6.

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, presented by the Pearson Foundation, harnesses the power of reading by bringing together children and adults to read the same book, on the same day to fight the early education crisis. Celebrating its sixth anniversary, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record also launches Jumpstart’s school year that helps prepare preschool children in low-income neighborhoods for success in kindergarten and life. Jumpstart’s year-round program connects children in need with trained adults who prepare them to succeed in school.

On October 6, 2011, adults will read Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney to more than 2.5 million children to set a new record for the world’s largest shared reading experience and raise funds for early education in low-income neighborhoods. In partnership with Jumpstart and the Pearson Foundation, Gymboree Play & Music supports early education and literacy development and encourages the entire community to learn more about this important campaign by visiting www.readfortherecord.org and by attending a class on October 6.  Go to www.gymboreeclasses.com for our schedule.
