Flash Flood Warning Issued into Tuesday Afternoon

Up to four inches of rain possible.

The wet weather that made a mess of the end of the morning commute is expected to continue into the middle part of the afternoon according to the National Weather Service.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued until 2:45 p.m. for Monmouth County and a Flash Flood Watch has been issued through the rest of the afternoon.

According to the warning a stream of heavy rain and thunderstorms could bring as much as four inches of rain across our area along with winds reaching 20 MPH. The combination could mean rapid local flooding especially along more rural roads.

The Flash Flood Watch shows rain and scattered thunderstorms continuing past the end of the warning bringing moderate to heavy rainfall on an already wet day. The heavy rains could mean flooding of small streams and creeks as well as roadway flooding according to the watch.
