Ketchum Road Bridge to Close on Monday

Construction project scheduled to take approximately two weeks.

For those residents who typically take the Ketchum Road Bridge across the Manasquan River, they will need to find a new way to get around starting Monday morning.

The county recently announced that the bridge will be closed while it undergoes some considerable improvements. The bridge's surface, superstructure and approaching roadways will all undergo much needed work over the course of the next few weeks according to the county.

Freeholder Deputy Director John Curley said the work became needed after the winter storms that pummeled the area. "The extreme weather this past winter has accelerated the appearance and growth of potholes on the bridge's riding surface leading to the increased deterioration of the bridget's support structure," he said. "The Ketchum Road bridge repair project is part of the county's efforts to responsibly maintain its bridge and road infrastructure and to keep traffic moving."

With the detour, traffic will be affected on Ketchum Rod between Adelphia-Farmingdale Road and Casino Drive. For those motorists traveling north on Ketchum Road they will be sent east on Casino, before turing left on West Farms Road. They will then be able to get back on their original course with a left onto Adelphia-Farmingdale Road.

Southbound drivers will go down Alephia-Farmingdale Road, then turn right on Squankum-Yellowbrook Road and then getting back on West Farms Road before Casino Drive.
