Local Poet to Speak at Library

Belmar's Theresa Pecci Faugno will be giving a multimedia poetry presentation at the Howell Public Library on Tuesday evening.

April showers can bring May flowers, but April also brings with it National Poetry Month. To celebrate, the Howell Public Library is holding a free special poetry reading on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. with a local author, who will discuss her poems in a unique manner.

Belmar resident Theresa Pecci Faugno will perform this poetry reading. Ms. Faugno has been writing poetry for a long time, and for the past ten years, she has shared her poems throughout numerous venues in the local area.

Along with her poetry writing, Ms. Faugno is also a prominent member of the Belmar Arts Council. This organization is a non-profit group in Belmar that displays various paintings, sculptures, and a wide variety of other artistic endeavors.

Ms. Faugno noted that though many people enjoy the written form of poetry, she believes the best way to understand and embrace poetry is to hear it spoken aloud.

“Poetry is the passion of the human spirit reverberated,” she said. “I gained a lot from hearing different interpretations of my poetry and will enjoy sharing the stories behind my poems.”

One unique aspect about this particular poetry reading is that not only will Ms. Faugno read her poetry aloud for all to enjoy, but she will also be utilizing a multimedia presentation in order to give the audience a full-fledged poetry listening experience.

Howell Public Library Director Dianne Rieth said she was thrilled to have Ms. Faugno come to the library to perform, adding she was quite receptive when she found out that Ms. Faugno wanted to come read her poetry to patrons of the library.

“This whole slideshow poetry presentation will be fascinating,” Ms. Rieth said, noting the words of the poems would appear on screen while Ms. Faugno read her poem aloud. “This will be a program geared mainly toward adults, and it is good to see more programs for adults created in the library setting.”
