Local Republican Club Looks Forward to 2012

Group swears in new officers

In nine months voters across the country will cast their ballots in the presidential election on Election Day. Before that big day arrives, the Howell United Republican Club swore in a new group of officers while looking back on a busy 2011.

With the help of Monmouth County sheriff and Howell resident , Rob Antonelli was sworn in as president of the club with Liz Crombe sworn in as vice president and Carol Chirico as recording secretary. There were other members sworn in as officers including Beth Heine as treasurer, Bette Ann Van Noy as corresponding secretary and Jim Moretti as Sergeant-at-Arms. With the passing of longtime member Warren Curry, former Mayor Joe DiBella was named as a trustee of the club.

Antonelli said the club was busy over the past year. "It was active in restoring the Monmouth County freeholders to an all Republican board," he said as well as helping with the re-election of County Surrogate Rose Marie Peters.

In addition to their work in local politics Antonelli said the club also helped residents in town as well. That included holding a for a family that had lost their home in a fire.

Members of the club also collected supplies for the Howell Food Pantry and helped to raise money for the Howell First Aid Squad as well as organizing a for the Howell PAL according to Antonelli.
