Meetings, Library Activities and More Highlight a Busy Week Ahead

Memorial Day is just the start of lots of ways to stay busy this week

With today being Memorial Day, Township offices are closed but there is still plenty to do to keep you busy today and during the rest of the week.

The Memorial Day festivities kick off at 11 a.m. at Town Hall with a memorial service. A similar event will be held at 11:30 at Lutz Park on Main Street in Farmingdale. That all leads up to the annual Memorial Day Parade in Farmingdale that will also include plenty of representation from Howell. The parade is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.

After a four day weekend the Howell Lady Rebel softball team will be in action on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Central Jersey Group IV Tournament. The 13th seeded team will travel to take on the top seeded squad from East Brunswick for a 4 p.m. game.

On Thursday night at 7 p.m. the Howell High School FPAC will have an evening of dance in the school's auditorium to show what they have learned over the course of the year.

This weekend marks the culmination of a lot of effort by the Howell Township Education Foundation. Saturday will be the second annual Race to Educate 5K Race/Walk. The event starts at 9 a.m. at Middle School South. The registration form and more information on the event can be found here.

There is also plenty to do on Sunday including a pancake breakfast at Congregation Ahavat Olam. The breakfast will also feature a talk by longtime Howell resident Sanford "Sandy" Kalb on the history of the township. The event is sponsored by the congregation's men's club. It starts at nine, for more information and to RSVP call 732-367-1677 or 732-363-5190. The cost is $5 per person and children under 5 are free.
