VIDEO: Bobby Flay Opens Bobby's Burger Palace in Freehold

Chef and restaurateur opens new restaurant at local mall

The latest addition to the Freehold Raceway Mall arrived on Wednesday morning when Bobby Flay opened his newest Bobby's Burger Palace.

The restaurant offers wide variety of options including his well known hamburgers, sandwiches and sides, and there was a crowd waiting to try the food and meet the Iron Chef himself.

The business opening had a charitable beginning: $1 of the purchase price of every burger sold during the first week of operation will go to The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

As far as getting good information from people that work in chains - I have found that the information varies - just like the people themselves. Apple seems to be able to provide excellent service at the mall. I walk to 10 other stores in the mall - and never get anywhere near that level of service (The Microsoft store is close).
There were 100s of small independent computer dealers - they all went out of business when people started buying direct from Dell and catalogs - prior to the internet. Now people order from Amazon - does that mean they are hurting the small business owner. In many cases - no - since the order is being fulfilled from Amazon but actually sold by a small 3rd party... We can go back and forth on this all day - the point was that I felt that it was unfair to Bobby and the establishment to complain about a place or the value of the place based on never ordering a single thing - except to say that they might have been expensive. I don't eat at Le Cirque - but you won't hear me saying that the local diner is a better value or has better food - because I can't make an honest comparison... I do understand what you were getting at - but I think it does a disservice to the people who work there - and Bobby himself who invested money into our area to bring jobs and choices for us. Yes - we have the diner as well - but people can frequent both on alternating weeks and make everyone happy.

I don't have a problem picking anything - neither hardware stores or restaurants. I appreciate your opinion.....
I don't eat Turkey burgers - or Veggie burgers - but some people might consider either of them healthier than beef. I'm not sure if the fat in the particular turkey burgers is more than their beef - it's not a decision that I'm really making. Anything in moderation is fine - that goes for beef, wine, ice cream, etc.

You people play with yourselves admiring men who make a good burger then open a chain. It's a hamburger. Get over it. I can barely stomach all the fans and admirers anymore. Jealously you may say. I say burgers and steaks aren't that hard to cook to begin with. it seems anybody on Tv is an instant idol. You are all a bunch of idol worshippers and are paying dearly for it.

Don't hate the players - hate the game
Fred M December 7, 2012 at 03:13 am
It's real simple...You don't want to pay for a burger at Bobby's Flays? DON'T GO and leave it at that...People buy Mercedes Bens and People buy Chevrolet etc..WHO CARES...

Oh stop it!! Not everyone is rich like you
Carolyn Ann December 7, 2012 at 12:01 pm
Amazing, that a little celeb burger joint could initiate such angst. So I guess that means for many of you the news that Burger King is celebrating their 55th birthday thru Sunday. Buy 1 Whopper, 2nd one is $.55. Bobby Flay won't mind.
kc December 7, 2012 at 12:14 pm
I don't eat Burger King - it's a chain and we all know that the diner has Jumblaya.....burgers are unhealthy.....my dog told me that Burger King does not support the community and just by looking at the menu online - I knew that it was really bad food....
George Clark December 7, 2012 at 12:54 pm
kc I don't hate the players I just don't see the win in a losing game. You will never escape your chains kc. You will see too late the hell of your fate, for playing such a silly game, building others pyramids in chains. built in some "great" persons name, you give them all the fame, it's your own vainity you can't tame, so bowing to another's you become lame. you can bend over now, cause all your games are over. God or evolution says it's time to grow up, put down the over flowing cups better use themt to protect your nuts.
Lisa December 7, 2012 at 12:58 pm
gjc, I noticed you say you love healthy food and you are a proponent of independent businesses. Me too! I think you would love Mixed Greens and Grille in Manalapan. They are in the strip mall across from Town Pointe and they also have a juice bar.
Lisa December 7, 2012 at 01:02 pm
What exactly is so anger-inducing about people who are fans/admirers of a celebrity? That's their personal choice.
George Clark December 7, 2012 at 01:19 pm
lisa, I'm not really angry about fans sitting cheering as their world is going to hell largely do to us giving our collective power/ money to a chosen few. It's a dead end game for vast majority and in the end it's gonna be pot luck who actually survives it if any, not to mention it's gonna be a living hell for the few survivors. Yes we need heroes or role models, but i don't see too many of them being worshipped. It's all pop, movie and ball stars we are looking up to. Good luck. If this sounds negative turn on the news and tell me how that sounds any way you slice it. The meek shall inherit this earth real soon so stop admiring false God's and their excess among you feeble minded
kc December 7, 2012 at 01:20 pm
@ George:
I really wish I understood what in the world you are rambling about. It's offensive to even say that anyone is home "playing with themselves" when the conversation is not about false idols - pyramids in chains - great people's name - or the end of the world. We were talking about hamburgers here. God or evolution has nothing to do with hamburgers.. I wish I had some kind of decoder to better understand the kind of crazy that seem to have going on in your mind. I'm sure it would be interesting to study - but who has that kind of time to devote.... The only pyramid being discussed here is the food pyramid....
kc December 7, 2012 at 01:26 pm
Ok..
Now I really regret typing the above about you rambling. It's clear you are just crazy and loves to quote all kinds of crazy stuff.. I heard that the end of the world is coming soon - you want to get on your soap box and talk about that? a) Who is giving our collective power/money to a chosen few? b) Are you saying that it's a dead end game for the vast majority - and a living hell for the few survivors? c) So you are saying that our role models are pop, movie and ball stars? You don't sound negative to me.. So I'm going to try to better understand what you are saying.. So you believe that the 1% - the free masons are controlling our society. They are using the old Roman - bread and circus method to control us. Give us a few food ball games, a few movie stars - some war that we can watch on TV and we are all happy. Then they use the press (which they control) to broadcast images of superficial false idols to occupy us so we don't notice their plans. Yes - pretty soon - the meek are going to inherit everything... Gotcha - you are crazy.... Hamburgers - remember - this is about hamburgers.....
George Clark December 7, 2012 at 01:27 pm
kc, it has to do with rats and mouse traps. You wanna homogenize the world with more mcds and taco bells be my guess, but that's exactly what Bobby's is gonna be.albeit a high priced one. i think you and we better start thinking about bigger things then the 5 lb monster burger challenge. I think they put too much fat in the beef and it's clogging our collective neurotransmitters. lol. It's all about the burger, kc.
kc December 7, 2012 at 01:32 pm
George,
We don't have collective neurotransmitters.... I don't want to "homogenize the world" I would rather people make their own choices. So you want to change the world? Don't worry about the 5lb monster burger - go do something that makes a difference. Go help someone in need. I'm pretty sure that no one is going to be changed by your words here - and I'm talking about the crazy rant about false idols. Make a difference in one life - worry about your contribution. Don't worry about converting the rest of us. Your example of piety will lead the way for all of us to follow.. For me - it's about the burger. For you - it's about bed rest, hoarding and posting crazy false idol nonsense...
kc December 7, 2012 at 01:38 pm
Regarding 5 Guys - I agree. I was going to the one in Eatontown for about six months and it was terrible. I ended up stopping at the one near the Costco off Route 18 - near 33/66 and it was crazy good. I thought it was a fluke - so I went back to that particular 5 guys - I get it now. I was not getting it from the other place - it was super dry and I never enjoyed it...
You would think they would be consistent.... I would try it again - you might have had an off day. I would also say something to them if something is not right. One time I was at Bobby's and the fries were all 1/4 inch long - like it was the end of the basket - I said something and they brought me new fries.. Simple enough - I was annoyed by it - but they did the right thing.... k

George, I actually do understand where you're coming from and your staunch position. Thank you for taking your time to explain further how you feel -- and why.
kc December 7, 2012 at 01:45 pm
George,
I'm going to second Lisa. Thanks for your comments. I really enjoyed them.
George Clark December 7, 2012 at 02:10 pm
if you'd rather people make their own choices why are you endorsing and promoting bobby's place? Not sure how old you are, but go and save a burger for me too. your contribution to the world has been noted. you r a burger guy. sprinkle a little sarin in their I hear it's tastless. I was trying to help some one in need, but you think you don't need it. I don't want to change you or anybody else. just want to make sure we understand the lesson this time. Do you like cheese on your burger or what? I take it you are a manager at the burger joint or it's you bought into the franchise? If not or so, shut up about it. It's a burger joint. Get over it and stop playing with yourself. there is much more important things going on then burgers. elevate your priorities.
kc December 7, 2012 at 02:29 pm
Your lesson is understood. You are out of your mind. I'm waiting for you to start quoting scripture here about false idols and the moral decay of our society. Is that next ir does that come after your speech about the end of the world?
I take it you are an old and bitter man who has kids that don't talk to him - sits around and tries to get everyone to see the error of their ways... I am the manager at the burger joint. Do I like cheese? So now you are trying to say that managers at fast food places are someone stupid or contribute less? I should elevate my priorities? You are the one here ranting about false idols.
George Clark December 7, 2012 at 03:40 pm
Oh sorry if I'm hurting your business. Didn't mean to take burgers from your children. Again, I'm not bitter and sit happily conversing with you the burger mister. As for being considered crazy, I take that as a compliment coming from you or anybody else goiing along for this ride quietly or in agreement with how it's going. Crazy, as defined by a wise man, is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. So, that make me just as crazy as this world is. I'll admit my errors, but you deny them. Go make me a burger and make it medium rare. I hope those mexicans in the kitchen don't rebel against your little empire, but something tells me that won't last long either. Thirty dollar burgers in a bad economy only getn worse by pryamid scheme collapsing just don't make common sense, but you don't seem to have any of that and so your burger world is gonna end badly. Sorry bout that. love ya tho. i'll save the scripture for sunday. C you there? Oh, you'll be worshipping the great burger god bobby. lol. bonnepetite.
kc December 7, 2012 at 05:11 pm

All your comments totally amaze me.I'm not siding with any new or old business.however I do respect the fact that bobby flay did donate $1 for every burger sold to the food bank of monmouth county.no matter how much his burger place makes in the future he did donate a portion to an awsome cause.before sandy hit there were still people going hungry everyday.children old and young..next time u are complaining about a hamburger..think if those who may get a meal from his small donation. this is not an opened ended comment.instead of these crazy comments donate some food or your time to a great cause..I do!

Ok Fred M from Shrewsbury. Thanks for the brilliant insight.

The one in Freehold is the second Bobby's Burger Palace I went and I will not come back again to any of his restaurants. Our order was all messed up. I ordered my burger well done, but I got a pink bloody burger. My daughters was over cooked and dried. Our mango milkshake tasted like banana. The portions are tiny small, and expensive. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
