He/she calls you on the phone with a 6 figure advance and an offer to publish it. Within weeks, the book comes out in hardback. Sales skyrocket. You’re immediately famous. Book signings, movie deals,and HBO specials follow.

Unfortunately, the road to publication is never that simple.
