So You Want To be A Published Writer-What Really Happens

Here’s the commonly held myth: You produce a manuscript, and eventually send it off to a publisher, who opens up the package (the only one on his desk) immediately reads it (because said editor is on the look out for The Great American Novel).

He/she calls you on the phone with a 6 figure advance and an offer to publish it. Within weeks, the book comes out in hardback. Sales skyrocket. You’re immediately famous. Book signings, movie deals,and HBO specials follow.

Unfortunately, the road to publication is never that simple.

Whether you’ve never written a word, and think you might want to become a writer OR you’ve been writing and are now ready to begin submitting your work to an editor or agent OR or you’ve been sending your work out and now want to compare stories, this talk is for you.
