Wedding Reenactment At Allaire Sunday

Wedding of Maria Allaire, daughter of James P. Allaire, scheduled for afternoon ceremony

The wedding customs of the 19th century will be on display Sunday at Allaire Village as the nuptials of Maria Allaire are re-created in an afternoon ceremony.

Maria Haggerty Allaire, the second of James P. Allaire's daughters, will be marrying Thomas Andrews, manager of Allaire Iron Works. The ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. 

James Allaire wil arive at the church with his daughter in a horse-drawn carriage. The village's chapel will be decorated with seasonal arrangements and Allaire Village's Reverent Tanser will conduct the service.

Following the ceremony, visitors and the wedding party will move to the Allaire Mansion for wedding cake and reception.

Event admission is free. 

Also from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the Antique and Family Quilt show will be held in the Visitor's Center/Museum for a $5 suggested donation.
