DOCO Brings New Experience to Donut Shops

Gourmet donut store opens on Route 33 in Farmingdale.

It has been just about a month since Vincent DePaola and his partners opened DOCO, the Donut & Coffee Company. Since that time he said his gourmet donut shop has become popular destination for drivers near the circle where Route 33 and Route 34.

It does not take long to realize DOCO is not your average donut shop and DePaola said that was the goal when they opened their doors. “All our donuts are made to order,” he said. “You walk in and that’s when we start cooking the donut.”

From the time the customer orders the donut it takes a minute and a half for the machine to drop the dough in the oil, flip it and pop out a warm and fresh donut. There is then a wide variety of glazes and toppings to make the donut an even more personalized experience. “It’s a gourmet donut. It’s something different.”

Not only do they have normal donuts they also have Kronuts, a specialized treat made famous in New York which is a combination of a croissant and a donut. In just a month DePaola said they have come up with new flavors and toppings for their donuts including one inspired by Elvis with bananas and bacon on the top. They also offer gourmet coffee to go with their wide variety of baked delicious goods.

No matter what customers want, DePaola said he hopes they enjoy what he hopes is a truly unique experience. “It’s truly a different donut than anything they’ve ever had before. It’s made fresh and it’s hot when you leave here,” he said. “You’re getting that hot delicious donut fresh out of the fryer, it’s topped anyway you want it and it’s fresh.”
