Following Sandy's Wrath Local Chiropractor Returns For More TLC

It was one month before Hurricane Sandy struck that Barbara Ladagona decided to renovate her TLC Chiropractic office only to see the storm rip the roof off of the building and damage all the work she had so meticulously planned.

This past Saturday Ladagona was back in her original and better than ever office space celebrating a grand re-opening alongside municipal and business leaders she has worked with since arriving in the township 15 years ago. The doctor said had it not been for the support of the township, the business community and her patients and staff they could not have gotten back to business as usual in her office.

Saturday’s festivities, which included a food truck, entertainment and vendors were a far cry from what she Ladagona said she and her daughter Amy Kirchmer found two days after the storm. “When we walked into the reception room we could see the light of day because half te roof blew off,” she said. “All the ceiling tiles were down and the whole place was in shambles.” Thanks to the help of her customers and friends she said she was able to salvage her equipment before the Nor’Easter arrived just a few days later.

With her future in the office in doubt Ladagona said her landlord Dr. Bernard Quentzel “stepped up and allowed me to make a makeshift office in a few of the suites behind the office.” Once Wentzel received his insurance money from the storm damage Ladagona was able to once again work on her own space. “You make lemons into lemonade,” she said. “My office is now better than even when I updated it a month before the storm. In adversity you just have to see the opportunity. I’m very happy to be back in my space to have a comfortable sanctuary for my patients to come to.”

Now that she is back in her office Ladagona said she is ready to treat not only her original patients but also welcome new ones to the Route 9 space. “My office is not just for when you’re in pain or sick, although that’s when most people come in initially,” she said. “We educate our patients on things that will make them well and healthy so they can stay well and healthy.”

As for Ladagona, she said she is now “feeling on top of the world,” and is ready to put the damage of the storm behind her to help the patients and community she has grown to love.
