L.L.Bean To Open Store In Freehold Mall

The store will take over the spot vacated by the Borders bookstore in the Freehold Raceway Mall.

L.L.Bean on Tuesday announced it will open a new location at the Freehold Raceway Mall.

The Maine-based retailer is set to open a 25,000-square-foot store in the space vacated by Borders book store. The store is expected to employ 100 people, according to a company release.

The store is slated to open in mid-September. It will be the company's third retail store in New Jersey. L.L.Bean currently operates locations in Marlton and Paramus, according to the release.

The outdoor gear and apparel outfitter decided to expand its retail presence into Freehold because of a large number of catalog and web customers in the area according to the release.

“It’s very exciting to enter into the Freehold area where we have a strong and dedicated customer base, as well as abundant opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation," Ken Kacere, senior vice-president and general manager of retail at L.L.Bean, said in the release. "It’s a great community and an ideal location for one of our stores.”
