New Restaurant Approved for Brick Plaza

Joe's Crab Shack set to open in Brick

The township planning board has approved an application by Joe's Crab Shack to open a restaurant in Brick Plaza.

The application was approved last week.

The 8,600 square foot restaurant will be located where the former FedEx-Kinko's store was located in the rear of the plaza in a stand-alone building, said Township Planner Mike Fowler. The building that formerly housed FedEx-Kinko's will be demolished, Fowler said.

The restaurant will be similar to the Joe's Crab Shack location near the Monmouth Mall, said Fowler. The restaurant will feature, in addition to its indoor dining room, an outdoor "pirate ship" themed play area for kids.

"They have them in most of their restaurants," said Fowler.

The restaurant will be about 2,000 square feet larger than the building it is replacing.

Joe's Crab Shack is a franchised, chain seafood restaurant that specializes in shellfish dishes, fresh seafood and its signature "steam pots."

There are 127 Joe Crab's Shack locations nationwide. The Brick location will be the chain's fifth in New Jersey. Other restaurants are located in Eatontown, Lawrenceville, Clifton and South Plainfield.

Donna- should we close down the movie theater since its owned by Loews? This is by far, the dumbest comment posted. When I take my family out, we eat dinner then maybe hit a movie and get dessert after. I support 3 places in one outing. The places gain revenue, employing all those people and then those places pay money in taxes which the town gains revenue from. Small minded people like you should buy frozen dinners, stay him and eat them in front of the TV and wish to bring back the "good old days."

what else would you like in suburbia- a power plant or manufacturing facility? Watch all the NIMBY posts then!

More head shops opening up. Lets close down the adult bookstore across from the Kindergarten building first before we revel in more chain restaurants with their frozen prepared foods arriving here.
