Manasquan Savings Bank Sets Monthly Food Drive Goal for 2014

MANASQUANNJ (May 9, 2014) – Manasquan Savings Bank, long-time supporter of the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, has announced a monthly food drive to take place throughout 2014. In honor of its 140th anniversary, the bank’s eight branches will team together to collect 140 pounds or more of food each month.

“While a surprise to many, we fully recognize that hunger remains a serious issue in Monmouth and Ocean Counties,” says James S. Vaccaro, President and CEO. “Manasquan Savings Bank has maintained a deep focus on community for each of our 140 years, and the supporting food-drives is an important way to honor that commitment.”

Throughout the years, Manasquan Savings Bank has partnered with the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties through year-end donations and food collections during the bank’s free shred days. The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, headquartered in Neptune, focuses on issues of long-term food insecurity, and provides culinary and educational programming in addition to serving more than 8 million pounds of food annually through 260 feeding programs.

“By working together, we can take steps toward eradicating hunger while also creating opportunities for the many people being served by the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties,” Vaccaro says. “Proper nourishment can be an important first step in creating hope.”
