A Rainy Day in Howell

Five things to know for Thursday, Oct. 15, 2011

1. The National Weather Service is calling for at least a chance of rain all day today and through tomorrow. The high temperature is only expected to be around 68 on Thursday but only dropping to 62 by tonight.

2. The Howell Library will be hosting an event to help people stay out of the wet weather as it hosts another Thursday Afternoon at the Movies. This week's selection is "Win Win," starring Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan and Bobby Cannanvale. Rated R, the library's website said the film is about a high school wrestling coach who helps turn a runaway into a champion. The movie starts at 1 p.m.

3. The  on Kent Road will be hosting an open house today starting at 4 p.m. The facility is a partnership with nearby Kimball Medical Center with the goal of bringing services like mammographies to the local area. The open house is a chance for residents to see what the location has to offer and meet the staff. There will also be light refreshments including apple cider and other treats from Delicious Orchards.

4. The Howell Public Schools will wrap up their schedule of back to school nights tonight as parents are invited to Taunton School starting at 6:30 p.m. This marks the final school to have parents come see their child's school during a process which started on Sept. 13. 

5. The wet weather could have a definite impact on the Howell High School homecoming weekend this week. The Rebels are scheduled to take on the squad from East Brunswick on Friday at 7 p.m. It would mark the first time in several weeks that the local squad will have the chance to play under the Friday night lights.
