A Sunny Start of the Week in Howell

Five things to know for Monday Oct. 24, 2011

1. The National Weather Service says it should be a beautiful fall day here in Howell. The high temperature should be around 63 with only a light breeze cooling things down a little. There is a slight chance of showers, only around 20 percent tonight but clearing up in time for tomorrow. The temperature could dip as low as 47 tonight.

It looks like tomorrow should be a similarly nice day with a high of 64 and a low of 46. 

2. It seems strange but the fall season for the Rebels is already winding down. The field hockey team is scheduled to travel to Jackson Memorial today, while the boys soccer team will welcome the Mariners from Toms River North to town. The cross country team will have a divisional battle against Freehold Township to wrap up the day.

3. There is a road project scheduled to begin today on Asbury Ave. According to the township the road could be closed for as long as 10 days so plan your routes accordingly.

4. With the leaves turning and falling the township is preparing for the annual leaf collection. Crews will start going around one week from today so now is a good time to start making your piles for collection. The township reminds residents to put the leaves at the end of the curb and not in the traffic lanes or near drainage inlets. The recycling center will also be open every day through the end of the year for residents who want to bring items there themselves.
