BlueClaws Ready to Close Holiday Weekend With a Bang

Seven games at home start with 4th of July Spectacular

If you are looking for something to do this 4th of July that goes beyond the usual fireworks and classical music concert, then the Lakewood BlueClaws might have just what you are looking for when they kick off a seven game series on Monday.

The Claws will welcome the Hagerstown Suns to town for a few games as last year's first overall pick of the Washington Nationals Bryce Harper wraps up his first year of professional baseball. After that, the Kannapolis Intimidators will wrap things up with three games against their South Atlantic League opponents.

Monday's game includes a special fireworks display for the holiday and is also another Kids Eat Free game at the park as well. Speaking of fireworks, if you go to the team's website to order tickets and enter the promo code "Fireworks" with a capital F you can save $3 on the order.

Fans who attend Tuesday's game will have the chance to bring home a unique souvenir when the first 2000 through the gates will receive a bobblehead doll of former Claw Mark Parent holding the South Atlantic League Championship trophy.

The first 2000 fans 17 and under at Wednesday's game will receive a set of oversized baseball cards in addition to it being $1 dog Wednesdays.

Thursday's game will have a little bit of everything, including the BlueClaws and 105.7 The Hawk hosting Wing Fling. The concourse will be filled with local restaurants showing off their wing making skills for those in attendance, while fans will also have a chance to enter a wing eating contest. Former Major League Ace Jack Morris will also be in attendance to sign autographs for fans who are interested.

Much like Monday's game, the end of Friday's contest will also include a fireworks extravaganza to cap off the busy week of games.

Saturday will be a particularly important day for the BlueClaws and the Jersey Shore region as a whole as the team will celebrate Bruce Springsteen Appreciation night. The music of "The Boss" will be played all through the park and the team will even wear special jerseys that will then be auctioned off to benefit BlueClaws Charities.

The series and the home stand ends on Sunday when the ever popular Zooperstars will come to town as both teams prepare to hit the road. The characters include Harry Canary, Nolan Rhino, Monkey Mantle and one of the newest additions to the team, Barack Ollama. Kids will also eat free at the game as well.

After the series the Claws will play six games on the road at Greenville and Kannapolis before returning home on July 20. With the second half of the season now underway the Claws are clawing their way back into contention for a playoff spot with a 5-5 record as of Saturday night. They will be looking to improve on that as July continues on.
