Busy Week at the Library Highlights Quiet Week in Howell

Only one meeting on the schedule set for Thursday

From the looks of the latest weather projections, it appears temperatures in Howell this week will be at least a little cooler than they were last week. At the very least that should mean the mercury stays in the double digits, providing at least a little relief from last week's sweltering heat.

For those looking for things to do around the town, the library looks to have something for everyone, starting with baby story time today at 11 a.m. For the older children, family story time will be held at 4:15 today as well. Tomorrow morning is toddler story time at 9:30 at the library before the activities there get geared toward more mature residents of the township.

At 2 p.m. the movie Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole will be shown. It is rated PG and is open to kids and other people of all ages. Then, at 6:30, the library will hold an introdocution to the martial arts style of Capoeira. This activitiy is encouraged for people in sixth grade and up.

On Wednesday night at 7 p.m. the library will host a Women of Words book discussion for all those interested. This week's selection is Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.

The busiest day of the week in the township this week looks to be Thursday, which starts with another family story time session at the library at 10:30 in the morning. Then, at 1 p.m. the library will show the classic film Out of Africa. The film stars screen legends Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

At 5:30 p.m. the Chamber of Commerce's medical division will sponsor an event entitled "How to get your business listed on Page 1 of Google," at Federici's South. The event is open to all members and potential members looking to increase their presence on the popular search engine and on the web in general.

Also on Thursday, the planning board meeting which was cancelled on July 14 is scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. The agenda includes applications of extensions for more time for several cases, as well as an application for a new billboard to be built along Route 9. The full agenda can be seen here.

There is also plenty to do outside the township this weekend as well starting on Thursday. The Cole Brothers Circus will be starting its annual engagement at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, while the annual Monmouth County Fair will also begin in Freehold. For those looking to go a little closer to the ocean, the Manasquan Fireman's Fair will also be kicking off on Thursday.

Allaire State Park has two big activities scheduled this weekend, starting with a yard sale and flea market which kicks off Saturday at 8 a.m. Then, at noon on Sunday history fans will get to see a recreation of an 1830's temperance rally at the village.
