District to Help Families Impacted by Hurricane Irene

For those who are not in their homes, schools can help

With Howell schools expected to open on Wednesday, the Board of Education and the administration is reaching out to residents who were forced out of their homes as a result of Hurricane Irene.

According to an email sent out on Saturday, the district may be able to help them get their children back into their regular Howell Schools with the help of the Stewart B. McKinney-Vento Education of Homeless Children and Youth Program. Those families interested can find out more information by going to this link on the district's website. In addition, residents can call Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services Patricia Callander at 732-751-2480 ext. 3805.

The email from the district said all efforts were being made to make this a successful start to the school year for everyone. "We will do everything we can to help ensure the continuity of your child's educational program during this difficult time."
