Five Things To Keep In Mind This Weekend

The sun will be out, there is plenty to do, and also plenty to look forward to this week ahead

1. For the middle of March, I don't know how you ask for a nicer day than we had on Friday. Hopefully you were able to enjoy some of the nice weather before the sun went down. If not, there is still the weekend to look forward to. There is no rain called for until Monday, which means 50+ degree days on Saturday and Sunday. Places like the Manasquan Reservoir, or Echo Lake Park or others could be great places to go within Howell's borders.

2. It is a light week for meetings. The big one for the week is Wednesday at Middle School North when the Howell Board of education will have a public hearing on the budget for 2011-12. The meeting is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. in the Cafetorium.

3. Speaking of budget meetings, the Howell Township Council has scheduled its second budget meeting of the year for March 30. That meeting will start at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.

4. There are a few construction projects that will be happening in town now that the weather is clearing. That includes Ford Road which was scheduled to be closed as of Tuesday and should last between four and six weeks. The project should have the most direct effect on residents of Ford Road, Irene Blvd. and Brown Road.

Another construction project is set to start on Monday involving Jersey Central Power & Light. The utility company's work will include replacing 110 utility poles between the Howell substation and the Farmingdale substation according to the township. Work along the five mile stretch will also reportedly include the use of helicopters to move the large poles. Helicopters are supposed to be in use Monday and Tuesday weather permitting, but rain is expected on Monday which could cause a change in the schedule.
