UPDATE: Power Largely Restored Following Earlier Outages

Rain expected to last through the week

Heavy rains fell in the region Monday, and JCP&L reported that earlier in the day more than 600 residents were without power.

By 2:45 on Monday afternoon the utility reported most of the power had been restored. From Howell to Berkeley Township only around 20 people were still reporting outages.

Earlier in the day, the outages were reported in Howell, Manalapan, Wall and Brick. There were only a handful of outages in Manalapan and Wall and 166 outages reported in Point Pleasant.

In an email sent out by Ramtown School Principal Albert Bohrer in Howell, the school's cafeteria was reportedly impacted by the outages. As a result "classes that ate later in the day received a cold lunch rather than what was originially scheduled for them on the school lunch menu," he said.

It looks like it will be a rain soaked week in the area with the National Weather Service predicting storms straight through to Thursday. With the prediction of rain there is also only warm temperatures on the horizon. The high this week figures to be 75 when the sun returns on Friday and a low of just 50 tonight.
