Kolacki's Efforts Help Lady Rebels Dominate Mustangs

Saturday afternoon contest ends in blowout win for Howell girls

In a week where the Howell Lady Rebels knew they had not one, not two, but three key contests, their trip to Brick Memorial on Saturday proved to be an easy way to lead into a hectic schedule.

From the first whistle to the final buzzer, the game was never in doubt as the Rebels flew out to a 17-7 lead after the first quarter alone. That lead only grew into halftime and by the time the game was done the final score saw the Howell squad running away with a 65-32 win.

Leading the way in scoring was Lauren Kolacki who scored 14 of her 21 points in the first half alone and added eight rebounds as well. Also contributing to the win was Alex Milne who had 12 points.

Coach William Gallacher said Saturday's game was a good way to get into the week ahead. "We looked very sharp," he said. With the Mustangs being a young team with freshmen starting, the Rebel coach said "It was a game we should have won," but was more pleased with the way the girls won. "We played sharply. I was glad we didn't become sloppy."

With all nine girls on the roster once again getting a chance to contribute, and combining Saturday's game with a win against Manalapan last week, the coach said he felt good about where his team stood. "Between the tight game vs. Manalapan and the crisp play on Saturday, I hope we're fine-tuned for today," he said.
