Parkway Traffic Picking Up As Weekend Gets Started

Traffic in several areas with Friday rush hour

Labor Day is just a few weeks away, but there are still plenty of people making their way down to the Jersey Shore on Friday evening as the summer winds down.

As expected, one of the hardest hit roadways is the Garden State Parkway, although other roads leading to the area are also seeing their fair share of problems with traffic and accidents.

In the immediate area the New Jersey Turnpike Authority is reporting heavy volume on Route 138 west as well as Route 18 in Wall Township which is slowing traffic for motorists. There are also reports of traffic on the Garden State Parkway heading south near exit 91 in Wall extending to Exit 90 in Brick. Drivers in that area can expect a four mile backup heading through that stretch of the road.

Further north, an accident is being reported on the Parkway heading south near exit 109. There is also a considerable amount of traffic on the Parkway in the local and express lanes heading south near exit 124. That area has two miles of traffic delays with motorists heading toward our area. Just above there at exit 130 on the southbound side there are delays that reaches all the way to exit 127.

There are also delays reported on the New Jersey Turnpike with drivers making their way to the shore. On the southbound side near exit 8 there is a 7.5 mile delay reaching to exit 7A. That brings more drivers to the exit for 195. There is also a four mile delay near exit 7A making for even more traffic in the area.

Beyond that there looks to be a considerable amount of traffic near the Hudson River crossings which could bring even more cars to the roads in our area as the night goes on.
