Rainy Weather Making for Messy Drive on the Jersey Shore

With the end of a short work week for many people, there is already a solid amount of traffic heading down to the Jersey Shore region. 

In the immediate area, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority is reporting delays on Route 9 in Lacey Township near Musket Drive and First Street. Initial reports have poles and wires down with all lanes being closed. 

On the Garden State Parkway in the area there are delays reported on the southbound side near exit 91. Traffic is backing up to exit 89 with a total of five miles of delays due to heavy volume. 

There are also delays reported on the New jersey Turnpike on the northbound side near exit 7A. There is heavier traffic from there up to exit 8 with pockets of volume along that route. In that same area there are reports of a disabled car on the southbound side north of exit 7A.

For those locals who take New Jersey Transit Trains, there are also reports of significant delays on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line. Police activity in Woodbridge is causing 30 to 60 minute delays in both directions on the Northeast Corridor. The same delays are also to be expected on the North Jersey Coast Line. 

For any late travelers heading into New York City tonight, the city-bound George Washington Bridge will be dropped to one lane from 12:01 on Saturday morning until 8 a.m. E-Z Pass lanes are the encouraged way to get to the bridge.
