Storms Force Cancellation of Fundraising Softball Game

Storms expected to arrive in the area shortly

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of the local area from Lakewood into Jackson and Howell.

As a result of the storm the annual Reese Behnken Home Run Derby and Softball game has been cancelled. The NWS said the storm could include quarter sized hail, and potentially damaging winds upwards of 60 MPH.

The storm is expected to hit Howell and Farmingdale at approximately 5:45 on Friday night.

While the game has been cancelled as of 5:30 on Friday night the scheduled showing of Shrek on the Howell Town Hall lawn is still scheduled to be held after the storm blows through. The film is expected to start around 9 p.m. after sunset.
