The Weekend is Almost Here

Five things to know for Wednesday, Oct. 26

1. A slightly cloudy but otherwise beautiful start to this Wednesday is an unfair tease considering what the National Weather Service says is just around the corner. With a high temperature of 67 degrees the day should be mostly nice before things change for the worst. The 40 percent chance of rain during the day bumps up to a 70 percent chance tonight with the low temperature a still mostly pleasant 53.

Once the rain starts it seems unlikely to stop until Friday during the day with close to an inch of total precipitation expected.

2. The weather could have a unique impact on the Howell High School girls soccer team. The Lady Rebels are scheduled to take on Holmdel on the road. Unlike their regular 4 p.m. start, tonight's game was supposed to be a 5:30 battle under the lights. Whether it rains or not, the volleyball team is set to take on Manchester at home today with the first serve set for 4.

3. Don't forget, the Halloween is being held today. Depending on the weather the event will either be at Oak Glen Park or in the old recreation department building.

4. With costumes being encouraged for people of all ages at the Spooktacular it could be a great time to take a picture of your child and enter them into our Halloween contest. All the instructions on how to do that are available .
