For motorists on the road this Friday evening, the traffic looks to be considerably worse on the west side of the state, while the Monmouth and Ocean county areas have not hit their peak as of 4:30 p.m..
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority is reporting only one problem on the Garden State Parkway so far. Heading south near exit 114 in Holmdel, there is a four mile delay stretching all the way to exit 109 in Middletown.
There is also a report of volume on Route 138 west near the cut for Route 18 in Wall that is starting to build this evening.
Other than that most problems are reported to be north and west of our area. On the Turnpike itself there is a lot of volume but not a lot of reported problems with cars. One exception is a broken down vehicle on the northbound side near exit 8.
There is still plenty of time for people to make their way to the Jersey Shore and with lots of traffic up by New York City there will likely be more traffic headed our way. With the weekend just getting started, those motorists already in the area can enjoy the quiet before any traffic storm arrives.
